Light slower than the speed of light

Room: 204
Speaker: André Großardt
Recently it has been claimed that in presence of a classical gravitational potential the speed of light gets a correction coming from the interaction of virtual electron-positron pairs with the gravitational potential. This effect would let photons travel slower than neutrinos, thereby providing a possible explanation for the observed early arrival of neutrinos during Supernova 1987a. We review these arguments.
