Dynamical reduction models as a solution to the quantum measurement problem

Room: 204
Speaker: Tommaso Guaita (University of Milano, Italy)
Dynamical reduction models have been proposed as a possible solution to the well known measurement problem in quantum mechanics. Of these models, the simplest to analyse from the mathematical point of view is the Quantum Mechanics with Universal Position Localisation (QMUPL) model. I will present the structure of the model and give some examples of the mechanisms through which it reaches its stated goals. These include the localisation of macroscopic states and the reproduction through a purely dynamical process of the properties of quantum measurements.
