Micius Satellite and Satellite-to-Ground quantum communication

Abstract: 
he Quantum Experiments at Space Scale (QUESS) is a satellite research project aiming to perform proof-of-concept demonstrations of long-distance quantum communication using a satellite named Micius. QUESS aims to achieve satellite-based tests of violations of the Bell inequality, quantum key distribution (QKD), and quantum teleportation. In 2017 entangled pairs of photons were successfully distributed from the satellite to ground stations 1200km apart and were shown to violate the Bell inequality [1] , and used for decoy-state QKD [2]. This journal club will review how this was achieved and the future plans of the project.
