According to the Italian system, Ph.D. applicants have to go through a selection process, which is centralized at the university level. We cannot consider PhD students, who did not pass this selection process. A salary will be given to the winners. The website of the Physics Department (link) of the University of Trieste (link) contains the necessary information. Typically, deadline is in late Spring of each year. The Ph.D. starts in the Fall. Please check the website (link) for all relevant infos.
Formal admittance is through the graduate program of Trieste University. Conceivable research subjects are around the three research lines of the group.
Young, qualified graduates from all countries that are members of the United Nations, UNESCO or IAEA, can also apply for the “Joint Laurea Magistralis in Physics” between ICTP and University of Trieste.
